Day 1
Spend today on north Wales’s only standard gauge preserved line. Visit the workshops at Llangollen, ride the train to Carrog
and lineside for the rest of the day.
Day 2
Spend the entire day on Mount Snowdon. The best option is to catch a train to the top of the mountain and walk back
down, photographing the trains as they pass.
Day 3
A second day at Llanberis. Another chance to photograph Snowdon, with enough time to ride and photograph the Llanberis
Lakeside Railway as well.
Day 4
Drive to Porthmadog this morning. Ride or photograph the service, the choice is yours. A visit to Boston Lodge works can
be organised.
Day 5
Travel on or photograph the Welsh Highland Railway, Caernarfon. This Garratt operated line offers a wealth of
photographic opportunity, but with just two return workings on most days. An early morning visit to Dinas to see the
Garratts being prepared can be included.
Day 6
The second day on the Welsh Highland Railway. Visit the Welsh Highland Railway Porthmadog this afternoon.
Day 7
Spend the day at the Talyllyn Railway, visit the Narrow Gauge Museum and the works at Pendre.
Day 8
The 2 foot gauge Vale of Rheidol Railway is our railway today. Visit the workshops at Aberystwyth, ride the train to the
Vale of Rheidol this morning and chase the afternoon departure for a few extra pictures.
Day 9
Visit Llanfair Caereinion, with time to look over the locomotive workshops before the first train to Welshpool. This is a
good railway for photography, with a timetable that should keep you busy.
