This coach was originally built as Mashonaland
Railways #21 in 1902 for £2,256. 13. 9d by the
Gloucester Railway Carriage & Wagon Co. It
was one of four Composite 1st / 2nd class
coaches (# 18 - 21).
Converted to and all 1st Class coach in 1924.
In 1940 converted to a service coach by the SAR
in their Mafeking Workshops for use on the
Vryburg to Bulawayo section., later reverting to
RR use as a pool service coach, numbered 0831.
Displayed in the museum as Mashonaland
Railways #21, but with the interior as a service
coach.
