The Jacobite steam train to Mallaig
Day 1
Visit Edinburgh Castle, the second most visited tourist attraction in Britain. See the Scottish crown jewels and learn about
Scotland’s turbulent past. This afternoon, visit the Royal Yacht  Britannia at Leith, Edinburgh’s harbour. Tour five decks of
this historic ship with a self led audio tour.

Day 2
Take a Scotrail train to Dundee. The railway crosses over the Forth & Tay Bridges. Visit Scott’s Antarctic ship, RRS
Endeavour and the Discovery Point Exhibition, a short walk from the station, before returning to Edinburgh. This afternoon,
visit Hopetoun House, possibly Scotland’s finest stately home.

Day 3
See the Falkirk Wheel, the world’s only rotating boat lift that transfers boats between the Clyde and the Clyde and Union
Canals. Ride a canal boat through the Scottish engineering icon. Later this morning, catch a steam train on the Bo’ness Railway.
Spend a while exploring the adjacent Scottish Railway Museum before continuing to Stirling Castle.

Day 4
Head for the Highlands. Stop at the Edradour Distillery, the smallest distillery in Scotland nestled in a glen above Pitlochery.
Pause in Pitlochery for refreshments, or visit the Tartan Center. Continue to Blair Castle.

Day 5
Take a steam train ride on the Strathspey Steam Railway  before  continuing to Inverness. Enjoy a cruise through the
Caledonian Canal into Loch Ness. Visit the Loch Ness Visitor Centre and see Urquhart Castle.

Day 6
Catch a Scotrail train to Wick. Local transport will take you to John O’Groats. Continue to the Castle of Mey, the most
northerly of Scotland's mainland castles, lovingly restored as a country home by the Queen Mother. Drive to Thurso and catch
the train back to Inverness.

Day 7
Drive to Fort William for the famous Jacobite steam train to Mallaig. After a break for lunch at the fishing village of Mallaig,
the train will return to Fort William.

Day 8
Drive to Glasgow.
