| A Luxury Steam Train via Zimbabwe and Botswana Rovos Rail has designed a unique ten-day Steam Safari to entertain discerning steam and train enthusiasts. Savour the experience of a 1,600 km steam-hauled journey with historic 19D and 12NC locomotives. This panoramic sojourn departs from Victoria Falls and heads in a south-easterly direction towards Bulawayo. Enjoy an early morning game drive in Hwange National Park and then on to Bulawayo for a visit to the Matobo National Park. Bulawayo is the heart of the National Railways of Zimbabwe and a visit to the Railway Museum is planned. A highlight is a game drive at Dabuka where there is an opportunity to walk with lions or go elephant back riding. Border formalities take place at Plumtree as we continue into Botswana passing through Francistown, Mahalapye and the capital, Gaberone. The train enters South Africa at the border town of Mafikeng and travels east towards Magaliesburg which lies in a scenic valley. Continue through the scattered trees and grasslands of the North West Province to Capital Park station in Pretoria. |
