
| New in 2010, the La Robla train offers a more economical train tour option to it's sister, the El Transcantabrico. Similar in concept to the El Transcantabrico, the train is a rail based cruise with frequent road excursions. Ideal if you enjoy rail travel and wish to see this part of Spain. The train offers en suite accommodation in two berth compartments and lounges where a self service breakfast is served. |
| La Robla Itinerary Bilbao - Leon - Bilbao Day 1: Thursday. The reception will take place between 13H30 and 15H30. Once the trip has started the train will travel to Espinosa de los Monteros for a coach tour to the Karstic Complex of Ojo Guareña in Sotoscueva, the largest cave collection of the Iberian Peninsula and among the ten largest in the world. Once back on board the train, leave Sotoscueva for Cervera de Pisuerga, spending the night in the train while stopped at the FEVE station of Vado-Cervera. Dinner in the Parador of Fuentes Carrionas and night in Vado-Cervera. Day 2: Friday The train will arrive to Matallana during breakfast, where we will take a coach to The Caves of Valporquero, famous worldwide for its stalactites, stalagmites and fantastic shapes. In the afternoon, travel by train to San Feliz, then by coach to León, a city founded by the Romans where art and culture abound. Visit the Cathedral, San Isidoro, Old quarters and San Marcos. Dinner in its famous wine caves of Prieto Picudo and night on board at the railway station of San Feliz. Day 3: Saturday Breakfast will again be on the train en-route to Guardo where our coach will take us to visit the Romanesque Art of Palencia: Carrión de los Condes, Frómista, Villalcázar de Sirga. Lunch will be in Frómista. Later, depart from Mataporquera for Espinosa de los Monteros for dinner and to spend the night. Day 4: Sunday After breakfast we will approach the cities of Espinosa de los Monteros and Medina de Pomar with their remarkable monuments such as the Alcázar de los Condestables and the Old Quarters. Continue to Balmaseda where we will visit the famous beret factory, Boinas La Encartada, where we will also enjoy a typical lunch.. After the visit, the train will take you to Bilbao, the end of your journey, arriving around 18H00. |
| There are 7 en-suite cabins in each of the four accommodation coaches on the train. Each has one upper and one lower berth, a wardrobe, suitcase storage and telephone. The bathroom has a shower, wc and wash basin. All cabins are air conditioned. As this is a narrow gauge train, the cabins are small and may prove difficult if you have physical disabilities. |

| St James (Jacobeo) Itinerary Gijon - Santiago de Compostela - Gijon Day 1: Thursday. Check-in is between 13:30 and 15:30. Travel by train to the mouth of the Eo River. Dinner will be in the Parador Hotel and tonight will be on the train in Ribadeo. Please note that the FEVE station in Gijon has been moved and is now located about 1km down the road from the original one that is still shown on some maps. Day 2: Friday After a refreshing rest and while having breakfast on board, the train will travel to Viveiro, a beautiful walled city. See the splendid views from Mount San Roque before continuing by train to Ortigueira. From there,travel by coach to Cariño. Lunch in Cedeira before continuing our tour to Cape Ortegal, where the cliffs and views from the northernmost point of Spain are absolutely unique. Visit the Sanctuary of San Andrés de Teixido and Cedeira, returning back to Ortigueira in time for dinner and a second night on board. Day 3: Saturday After breakfast on board, travel by coach to Santiago de Compostela. Visit the Old Quarter and the Cathedral. After lunch we will visit A Coruña, the Tower of Hércules, the Seafront promenade and María Pita Square. In the afternoon continue to Ferrol where we will make a brief tour and spend the night. Dinner in Ferrol. Day 4: Sunday Early in the morning, shrouded in mist and surrounded by cliffs, we will arrive at Foz, from there we continue to Mondoñedo with its commanding Cathedral. There the beaches of la Marina Lucense await us. Lunch will be in Rinlo and in the afternoon, drive back to the train at Navia. Your journey will end in Gijón around 20h20. |

| Combining the La Robla and St James tours For a longer journey, consider combining the La Robla and St James tours. You can travel between Gijon and Bilbao by normal service trains on the FEVE network, with two train changes at Oveido and Santander. Allow at least one day for this. |
